EPB, Slurry, HR, Double Mode

• EPB Shield: are commonly used for tunnels that must be excavated in urban areas, where settlements of the soil cannot be accepted. Thanks to the possibility of applying a counter pressure at the tunnel face, the risk of damaging the existing buildings is very low.
• Slurry Shield: when tunnelling under high water pressure, a Slurry Shield is the right choice. Thanks to the water-bentonite suspension, it is possible to counter-balance pressures up to 16 bar.
• HR Shield: used when encountering rock formations that are fractured (stability of the tunnel walls in not guaranteed during the excavation) but there is not the need to counter-balance the pressure of the soil/water at the tunnel face.
